Endlessy changing irrigation spaces
These photographs were taken between February and March 2023, in the weeks immediately preceding the outbreak of war in Sudan. They document the transformations taking place in territories affected by major agricultural development projects, offering a glimpse into the dynamics at work just before the armed conflict struck and devastated many of these areas and infrastructures. We believe it is essential to restore a view of the complexity of Sudanese agriculture, not only to preserve the memory of spaces that are now profoundly transformed or destroyed, but also to draw attention to the current war in Sudan and help break the silence that too often surrounds it.
