The Sahel seen by Eugenio Turri – Color slides
Eugenio Turri (Grezzana 1917-Verona 2005) was an Italian geographer and photographer. He created his first photo reportages for the Touring Club Italiano and later collaborated extensively with the Istituto Geografico De Agostini (De Agostini Geographical Institute). He traveled to all continents, but his special connection with the Sahel is evidenced not only by the photographs presented here, but also by the pages he dedicated to the region in various works, including “The People of the Tents” (1983 and 2003) and the great geographical encyclopedia “The Million” (1967). The photographs reproduced here are owned by the heirs who have granted the Museum of Geography of the University of Padua the rights to the digital versions.
