Published in Junco: “Emergency Response Rooms: The Sudanese experience as a model for localised aid”
We are pleased to announce that an article by our young contributor Pietro Boschi has been published in Junco.
The article analyses the Emergency Response Rooms operating in the context of the ongoing civil war in Sudan as a case study of the localised approach to humanitarian aid. As part of the debate on localisation and mutual aid practices, the article examines the origins, operational practices and organisational structure of the ERRs, highlighting their effectiveness in filling the gap left by international actors, as well as the obstacles and risks they face. The article concludes by arguing that the Sudanese experience can demonstrate to the international community the potential of grassroots aid and promote a rethinking of the global humanitarian system.
